Oh Baby

I took these pictures for a friend of mine and I hope my future little ones are this photogenic and well-behaved.  He was beautiful in every way and even had the sweetest little cry.  She is one lucky mama!

And to toot my own horn, I totally crocheted both the blankets above and below!

Snow?

I'm pretty sure it was just this past week that I told quite a few non-NC friends that I hadn't seen snow this winter and I probably wouldn't.  Well, Mother Nature showed me who was boss.

She didn't want to be TOO cruel, however.  Tomorrow is a high of 50 and sunshine and Thursday is supposed to be 72 degrees.  Yep, that's more like it.

Roller Derby

First, I want to say that I had big plans of blogging about our two sets of friends that came to visit us here in NC.  I had pictures and lots of nice things to say about how much we love them and how they are some of the main reasons we want to move back to Omaha. BUT I'm so mad at technology right now that it's not going to happen.  I bought a new program to edit photos and as I was attempting to use it for the first time to upload my pictures from those weekends, the program froze and my pictures got lost in the middle of space between the SD card and the hard drive.  They're just gone and I am upset. So I'm sorry friends, we do love you but I just am too angry to write about the weekends without the pictures to go along!

But this weekend WAS a great weekend and we have pictures to show for it.  Friday night we started off by getting our taxes done - what a romantic Valentine's weekend, huh?  I think it's awesome because it means more money.  After wanting a little bit of everything under the sun for dinner we ended up at Hibachi Grill - a buffet that cost us $20.05 post tax for both of us.  We may have been some of the only white people in a packed restaurant, but what do we care? We love the place.  We wrote down ideas for future dates as we let the food settle in between plates.  That was my idea.  We need to be more creative.  I LOVE Redbox, don't get me wrong, but it's time to step it up.  We should be enjoying the time we have with just the two of us and save watching movies on the couch for when little ones require us to stay home every weekend.

Why am I writing so much on this post? I'll wrap it up now, I promise.

Saturday we got to sleep in which was HEAVENLY.  Especially since the dog let us sleep in, too.  He's so considerate.  He seems to know when we need that sleep and waits to go potty until we're up.  Our big event for the day was then the ROLLER DERBY!  We've been wanting to go but tickets were $10 and they only have 5 "bouts" a year.  Luckily Living Social had a deal this week which gave us that extra motivation we needed to go.  It did not disappoint.  We rounded up some friends who were just as excited as we were and spent the afternoon watching girls of all sizes on skates pushing each other around.  Who wouldn't love it?

Thanks to Ryan's enthusiasm, three of our group won t-shirts! Sadly, I did not.  But I have one from Lincoln's team and that's where my heart lies anyway.

Valentine's Day

Let me preface this - I am NOT a Valentine's Day person.
I've never been a hater (even though I was always single for all of them until Ryan), I'm just one of those people who thinks it's silly.  Especially with Christmas in December, my birthday in January and then this is February, I don't need anymore gifts.
BUT, Ryan mentioned something the other day that I would have bought anyway and Valentine's Day was just good wrapping for it.

So I went all out while he was at Intramurals last night:

Glitter (aka "stripper sparkle" at our house), reds, pinks, polka dots, zebra, ribbons and bows, scalloped edges and scribbled hearts.

And yes, I know it looks like an elementary school child did it. That's what I was going for.  I didn't want to put REAL creativity into it so I diverted back to my old ways.

But the best part? These little spring guys. Did you used to make them ALL THE TIME as a kid?
I did.  Especially with the perforated edges off of the old-school printer paper.

Wanna know what was inside the envelope?  THESE guys.
Okay, so obviously not the ACTUAL Harlem Globetrotters but tickets to see them in 2 weeks.
Best wifey ever?

Definitely.

Growth

Ryan and I are obsessed with looking at homes on zillow.com, in Omaha in particular.

Can you tell where everyone is moving these days and where we'll probably end up?

Alaska Reaction take 2

There is no update on where Ryan and I will be going, but we do know that we're not the only ones in this situation.  Apparently it happens every year that 1-2 sites fall through and this year there are four students in Ryan's position.

After Ryan and I's first few freak out hours, we're oddly calm.  I'm never calm about this kind of thing, which kind of makes me want to freak out? Weird, right?  I'm never good with not knowing the future but I just feel like something will work out and it will be where Ryan and I belong.

To be continued... (when things finally get finalized).

Speechless

We're not going to Alaska.

That's all I know.

Ryan got this email:

Ryan:

I am writing to inform you that Infinity Rehab is no longer able to offer the clinical internship for PT 801 at its Anchorage, AK location.  Thus I need to schedule a time to meet with you to discuss your preferences for another assignment in an inpatient setting.  It is not urgent for us to meet at once so I will suggest that we plan to meet during the week of February 13th

Don’t stress about this…it will all work out!  Dr. O

Not urgent? Don't stress?  ARE YOU KIDDING ME? I was planning on leaving my job for 3 months, I need to know if that's still the plan! AH, I'm SOOO bummed.  I wanted best friend time.  I wanted me and my little family in Alaska.

I wanted to blog about happy things in our life but this is apparently our most recent news.

 LAME SAUCE.
